Carol began her self-storage career as a trainer for National Self Storage in 1984. At the time, National was one of the nationās most extensive self-storage operations. She worked for Bob Schoff, Mike Schoff, and David Mackstaller. She developed National’s curriculum for the first training school in the industry, which trained over 200 self-storage managers. Carol has written over one hundred articles for the Modern Storage Media, Inside Self-Storage, Insider SSAA, Behind Closed Doors AZSA, Units,Ā and Directions magazines.Ā

Carol has written over one hundred articles for the Mini-Storage Messenger, Self-Storage Journal, Inside Self-Storage, Insider SSAA, Behind Closed Doors AZSA, Units and Directions magazines.
She has traveled around the world speaking and educating people in the self-storage industry. She is the author of 12 industry related manuals, including an Operations and Policy Manual sold by the Self-Storage Association. Carol has developed and managed over 200 properties in 9 different states. Also, Carol started SkilCheck in 1987, her mystery shopping and training company. She also started her property management, Excellence in Management, which she sold her 37 location to StorQuest in 2011. She is currently managing 4 storage properties in the West.
Carol has also been active in the national Self Storage Association for over 20 years. She has utilized her degree in Secondary Education by being active on the Education Committee. She has also served on the SSA Western Region Board and served on the SSA National Board of Directors for over 8 years. She is one of the founders and was on the Board of Directors of the California Self Storage Association for 7 years and is currently serving on the Arizona Storage Associationās Board of Directors.
